Fall Jewelry Trends You Need to Know

As we continue to emerge from the pandemic bubble, we’re socializing more and getting back to our glitz. Here are some new jewelry trends (and the return of some others) that have been seen on the runways and in the showrooms, with help from Who What Wear and Vogue.

Long necklaces

While we were zooming, everyone focused on above the neck. Now that we’re seeing one another in person, long, luscious chains and pendants are making a comeback. Chunky or slender, gold or silver. If they’re thin, you can layer a variety of them, which adds even more interest. Remember lariat necklaces from a few years ago? Dust ‘em off. They’re back.

Choker necklaces

The opposite of the long chains, bright, glittering chokers are also making a comeback. Find them in pearls and crystals. Except this time, designers are pairing different types of chokers (like a bold chain and a velvet rope) to give them a different vibe.

Chunky bracelets

As Vogue writes, “when it comes to bracelets, more is more and bigger is better.” It’s time to cuff ‘em with large cuff bracelets. You can also revive those bangles in your drawer. Materials transcend the usual metals and can also include wood and plastics.

Brooches

I’ve been pushing all my handed-down pins for a few years; they just weren’t who I am any more. But now, brands like Burberry and Chanel are decorating sweaters with brooches. Sparkly (Swarovski), funky animal/insect pins, and odd shapes are perfect for fall/winter outfits from blazers to dresses and sweaters. Moschino is even selling a pin in the shape of a fork!

Body jewelry

Yes, I know…I’m not into it either. But it’s out there. Or maybe you can fool your strait-laced relatives and friends by sporting a sparkly gold ear cuff for a pretend piercing.

Flowers

We’re going back to nature with flower in brooches, earrings, pendants, and rings. Abstract or in full bloom, you’ll find them everywhere.

Go bold, says Vogue about fall jewelry trends

  • Crystal: It’s time to outshine the chandelier. Drape yourself in shine and shimmer (or at least add some to your outfit).
  • Beads: No more delicate, woven small beads. We’re talking mammoth pearls and silver/gold gumballs here.
  • Locks, fringe: Whether it’s the locket to your heart or your jewelry box, designers are actually featuring locks in their jewelry. Fringe is also big in earrings and neckwear.
  • Crown your crowning glory: Don’t forget hair ornaments for your upcoming social seasons. You can go big (and say it’s in memory of the Queen) with a tiara or barrettes that draw the eye upward.

No matter how bold you want to go, this is a good time to go through your jewelry drawer and bring out some pieces that you haven’t worn for a few years—especially heirloom jewelry. And speaking of heirlooms, make sure they’re protected by insurance and an up-to-date professional appraisal. I can make the appraisal happen—just contact me at (617) 304-0174 or at aimee@ambappraisal.com.

Wishing you a happy fall!

Brilliantly yours, Aimee
